As an elementary teacher, you will provide a well-rounded education rooted in both academic excellence and Islamic values. This role requires delivering core subjects (such as Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies), all while fostering a nurturing and respectful classroom environment that aligns with Islamic principles.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Lesson Planning
    • Integrate Islamic principles into lessons and school activities to support the students’ understanding of their faith. 
    • Collaborate with the school administration to ensure the curriculum includes aspects of Islamic Studies and the Quran.
  • Classroom Instruction and Management
    • Teach core subjects while incorporating Islamic values, fostering a respectful, disciplined, and inclusive classroom. 
    • Use varied teaching methods to engage different learning styles and support students’ academic and social growth. 
    • Manage classroom behavior by setting high standards in alignment with the school’s values. 
  • Religious and Moral Guidance
    • Serve as a role model for students, embodying the principles of Islamic conduct and ethics. 
    • Provide Islamic moral and character education, guiding students in kindness, respect, and personal responsibility. 
  • Assessment and Reporting
    • Regularly assess and monitor student progress, including through formative and summative assessments. 
    • Provide detailed reports and constructive feedback to students and parents, fostering open communication with families. 
  • Professional Development and Collaboration
    • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with teaching approaches and the unique needs of teaching within an Islamic context. 
    • Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrative staff to create a supportive educational environment. 
    • Respond to various inquiries from students’ parents/guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress.
  • Community and Extra-Curricular Involvement
    • Engage with the broader school community by leading or participating in school events, assemblies, and other activities that reinforce Islamic teachings. 
    • Plan and supervise extra-curricular activities, field trips, or events that enrich students’ learning and Islamic experiences. 
    • Attend staff meetings and prepare and deliver Parent-Teacher meetings
Qualifications
  • Education: Degree or diploma in Education or a relevant field. An Ontario Teaching Certification (OCT) is often preferred. 
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience in an elementary school setting; experience in an Islamic environment is an asset. 
  • Familiarity with the teachings of Ahlul-Bayt to align with the school’s mission.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario’s elementary curriculum and teaching standards. 
  • Understanding Islamic teachings, culture, and values, with the ability to incorporate them appropriately into the curriculum. 
  • Proficiency in English is a must. 
  • Proficiency in Arabic is often preferred but not always required.
